Freedom Foundation 531 was officially established in 2025, but its true beginning started more than a decade earlier.
In 2013, our founder experienced firsthand the challenges many mothers face when trying to rebuild their lives after leaving an abusive situation. While searching for safety and stability in Wilson County, Tennessee, she discovered significant gaps in available resources. Many programs focused on substance recovery, yet few existed for women simply seeking a safe place, emotional support, and long-term guidance.
Freedom Foundation 531 was created to bridge that gap — offering hope, resources, and community for moms and children in transition.

The name 531 holds deep meaning. It represents May 31st, the date our founder left her abuser — the day freedom began. It stands as a symbol of courage, new beginnings, and the belief that healing is possible.
Just like the butterfly in our logo, 531 reminds us that even in moments of struggle, transformation is taking place. It marks the journey from surviving to truly living — from cocoon to freedom.
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Freedom Foundation 531 was born from both pain and purpose. The idea began during a season of transition — when I left an abusive marriage and searched for help that was difficult to find. That experience revealed a truth I couldn’t ignore: there are countless mothers and children who need support, stability, and safety, but too often, the system isn’t built to catch them.
Since that time, I have committed my career to helping others recognize and change unhealthy patterns. Through education, advocacy, and direct work with both victims and abusers, I have seen the complexity of abuse — and the hope of transformation when people are given the tools and support they need to change.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned is that abuse knows no boundaries. It touches every socioeconomic level, race, ethnicity, and religion. I have worked with individuals who were professionally successful, active in their communities, and even serving in ministry. The need for awareness and prevention is universal — because silence and misconception allow cycles of harm to continue.
Freedom Foundation 531 was created out of a deep love for this community and a belief that lasting change requires all of us. This organization cannot succeed in isolation. It will take the full support of our community — local leaders, churches, businesses, and individuals — working together to build safety, understanding, and opportunity.
Our vision is to provide more than a place to live. We aim to create a foundation for healing — where mothers and children can regain stability, build confidence, and step into the future with hope. But none of this is possible without unity, awareness, and compassion.
Together, we can build a community that doesn’t just respond to crisis — but prevents it. A community that believes in restoration, second chances, and freedom for every family.
With gratitude and hope,
—Katie Brock
